Svenja Thoes (born June 30, 1991 in Neunkirchen ) is a German triathlete . She is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

In 2012, Svenja Thoes won a starting place at Ironman 70.3 Mallorca (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) through a competition and was able to place second in her age group after just three months of preparation. So she qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas.

In 2014 Svenja Thoes became European champion in the triathlon middle distance in Spain in the age group 20–24. In October 2016 she was able to win the age group 25-29 at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships).

She has been a professional athlete since 2017. In November 2018, the then 27-year-old from Saarland won her first Ironman race in Cozumel with the Ironman Mexico (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) .

In June 2019 she was third in Ironman 70.3 Switzerland and in Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg she was second in the same month. In November 2019 she started as the defending champion at Ironman Mexico and had to abandon the race after falling badly while evading with the bike.
