Band history

The beginnings (1979–1990)

Sweet Savage was founded in 1979 and initially consisted of Ray Haller as bassist and singer, Vivian Campbell and Trev Fleming as guitarists and David Bates on drums. In this formation, the band released the single Take No Prisoners in 1981 on the Park Records label . A demo was also released, which appeared as Demo '81 that year. The sound carrier contains four BBC radio sessions. In 1983 Campbell left the band to help Dio . A little later, the second guitarist Fleming got out. In 1984 Ian Wilson replaced the band. As a result, the three of them recorded the single Straight Through The Heart , which was released that same year. In the years to come the band was inactive.

Killing Time and Rune (1991-1998)

In 1991 the band Metallica covered the song Killing Time , which was included on the single Take No Prisoners as the B-side. Killing Time was the B-side for the single Metallica The Unforgiven used and was later featured on the cover album Garage Inc. released. The Unforgiven is on the most successful album in the band's history, which is self-titled, but has also become known as the Black Album . So record labels became aware of Sweet Savage and the band signed a contract with Metal Blade Records . For the album, however, the band wanted another guitarist besides Speedo. Trev Fleming, who left in 1983, agreed to help Sweet Savage again and joined again in 1994. However, he got out again in the same year. His successor was Simon McBride. Together they recorded the album Killing Time in 1996 . Two years later, the album Rune followed , after which McBride dropped out. Since the contract with Metal Blade was dissolved, Rune was released under the label Neat Metal Nation . Both albums failed to make it into the charts.

Line-up change and regeneration (1999-present)

After McBride's exit, the band was quiet again. In 2008 longtime drummer David Bates got out. To date, Bates was the only member of the original cast who had been with Ray Haller without a break. He was succeeded by Jules Watson. In the same year Trev Fleming got back on again to take up the post of second guitarist again, with which Sweet Savage was again a fourth. On June 5, 2008, the band released the record collection Eye Of The Storm - The Early Years , which includes some live recordings and remixes in addition to songs that have already been released. 2010 got out Watson, for whom Marty McCloskey was appointed as successor in the same year. Trev Fleming died unexpectedly on October 2nd, 2010. He was succeeded by Phil Edgar. In this constellation, the band recorded the album Regeneration , which was released in 2011 via Candyman Records .
