The Swissman Xtreme Triathlon is a triathlon sports event over the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) that runs through the Swiss cantons of Ticino , Uri , Valais and Bern . It has been held annually in June since 2013.

organization

This event, together with Norseman (in Norway) and Celtman (in Scotland), forms the series of Xtreme triathlons.

The race over the Ironman distance was held for the first time in 2013 with 50 starting places and the second edition in 2014 included 200 athletes.

In 2016, the swimming had to be canceled due to the weather and replaced by a four-kilometer run. The race is limited to 250 starting places and in 2018 213 of the 239 athletes started reached the finish.

In 2019 the swimming distance had to be shortened from 3,800 to 1,000 meters due to the weather.

Route

Every starter is required to have a "supporter" with them on the run, who accompanies them by bike or on foot and provides them with food and clothing. The companion has to run with the athlete for the last 13 km.
