Switchpin is a five-piece American metal band from Denver , Colorado .

history

Founded in May 2001, the band found after the first album, released in Jagermeister a sponsor who took them into the Jager Music Band program and with bands like Slayer , Machine Head , Chimaira , 36 Crazyfists , Dry Kill Logic or Killswitch Engage together on let the stage play.

In 2004 the first full-length album The Truest Form of Flattery was released , which was produced by Dave Otero (including Cephalic Carnage ). With this album, which in contrast to the debut CD Redemption released in 2002, left traditional heavy metal behind, they became more popular in America. During the No Coast, Whore-Core Tour , Switchpin played live concerts in seven different states of America over a period of nine days. The less well known in Europe is due to the lack of appearances; In the future, however, they also want to go on tour in Germany and Europe.

In 2007 they introduced a new singer, Mike Smith, and a second electric guitarist, Eric Bloomquist (ex-Synthetic Delusion).

On January 31, 2008, two new songs, Broken Hourglass and Running Away , were released on the band's Myspace page . These two songs were later replaced by Nothing Left Elevator , So Easy, and Nothing Left . In addition, the new singer Jason LeBaron joined the band.

In June 2008 the EP 5200 RPM , produced by Ahrue Luster , the guitarist of Ill Niño and ex-guitarist of Machine Head, was released.

Switchpin is currently in preproduction for a new studio album.

style

Up to and including their second studio album, Switchpin played Metalcore with Thrash Metal influences, the band themselves used to refer to their sound as "Dynamic Metal", which they tied to the melodic and rhythmic passages in their songs. The hardcore borrowings are just as audible in songs like Artificial Self or A Breakdown In Silence .

Since 2008 Switchpin have been playing alternative metal mixed with metalcore and traditional rock. In the two new songs on the band's MySpace page, stronger alternative metal and hard rock influences can be seen.

The lyrics are played by singer Jason LeBaron mostly with clear vocals or guttural .

The band itself states that musically they are most influenced by System of a Down , Chimaira , Sepultura and Lamb of God .
