Syke'n'Sugarstarr is from Hamburg derived music production duo consisting of Serhat Sakin (also known as DJ name SESA) and Matthias Weber (also known as DJ name SUGAR STARR). Musically, Syke'n'Sugarstarr are located in the field of electronic house music .

Music productions

In April 1998 Serhat Sakin and Matthias Weber met and founded the artist duo Syke'n'Sugarstarr with the intention of producing house music together. In the first phase of her career up to around 2005 her influences from the fields of funk and disco , as well as a clearly percussive note in her productions could be heard. In the years that followed, the Syke'n'Sugarstarr sound continued to adapt in line with the times, so that from around 2006 onwards it could be more stylistically described as Uplifting & Progressive House .

They had their first release in the form of a remix for Salt 'n' Pepa's “Push It” in 1999 on Universal Rec . The entire release became number 1 on the German dance charts that same year. This was followed by further remix jobs from Universal Rec. U. a. for Shafts “Mambo Italiano” or Loonas “La Vida Es Una Flor”. Her first own single under the artist pseudonym Syke'n'Sugarstarr only followed in 2002 with the release of "Release Your Mind" on the German label Delicious Garden Rec. This led to further licensing of the single to the English label Swing City owned by Grant Nelson. To the Italian label Molto Rec., Frenetic Rec. In the Netherlands and Casa Rosso Rec./ Universal in Germany. Because of this release, Syke'n'Sugarstarr received worldwide support from well-known DJs such as Brian Tappert, Roger Sanchez , Hardsoul, Mousse T. , Milk & Sugar and others.

Syke'n'Sugarstarr achieved their international breakthrough in 2003 with their hit "Ticket 2 Ride". Here, too, the single was licensed exclusively in various territories, including to the labels Boss Rec. (UK), Sounds Good (Italy), Central Station Rec. (Australia). In the same year Syke'n'Sugarstarr founded the side project SESA, which was to serve as a solo project for Serhat Sakin from now on.

“Ticket 2 Ride” became the anthem in the gay scene worldwide, and the Italian fashion label Dolce & Gabbana used the song for their fashion shows.

In 2004 Syke'n'Sugarstarr met The Disco Boys , for whom they produced the track "For You". After its release on the Kontor Records label in 2005, the song written by Bruce Springsteen made it to number 1 on all dance charts in Germany. In 2006 Syke'n'Sugarstarr received the gold record for this production , and in 2010 it even went platinum . To this day "For You" is one of the best-selling dance tracks in Germany.

Also in 2004 Matthias Weber founded the label “Do The Hip!”. From now on, this is to serve as a platform for new productions by in-house artists, primarily for the main projects Syke'n'Sugarstarr and SESA.

In 2005 Syke'n'Sugarstarr signed a contract with Egoist Rec., The label of Swiss star DJ Antoine . They released the two singles "Toda A Minha Vida" and "Can't Stop" there. This was followed by the single "Are You Watching Me Watching You", together with the German-Brazilian singer Alexandra Prince . A cover version of the song Watching Me, originally by the 80s cult band Shakatak . Then the first Syke'n'Sugarstarr single was released on Kontor Rec., Which was called "Danz". First as an instrumental version, shortly afterwards also with female vocals, then under the name Danz (Devotion). In 2008 Syke'n'Sugarstarr released the re-make of the 90s house classic "No Love Lost" and started a collaboration with US singer CeCe Rogers, one of the founders of the house music movement in the 80s. Furthermore, the collaboration with DBN and Cosmo Klein followed, resulting in the single "My Belief", which was released on the Cologne label WePlay Rec. And was able to assert itself at number 1 in the German Dance Charts (DDC) for several weeks. The next release, called "Like That Sound," was a featuring with Jay Sebag. The Parisian singer was already able to celebrate great successes between 2003 and 2008 in his previous, multiple collaborations with the French DJ and producer Martin Solveig . “Like That Sound” was initially released on Do The Hip! shortly afterwards signed by the Dutch label Spinnin 'Records and released on their sub-label Oxygen Rec. A short time later the next Syke'n'Sugarstarr single followed on Kontor Rec. Called "No Satisfaction". An electro-house version of the Rolling Stones classic "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", sung again by Cosmo Klein. They then cooperated with the Italian DJ Cristian Marchi and the English singer Lisa Millett. The single "You Got Me Rockin" was one of the most played tracks at the Winter Music Conference (WMC) 2011. In 2012 the first Syke'n'Sugarstarr single was released on Subliminal Rec., The label of the well-known US DJ Erick Morillo . "World In Your Hands", in cooperation with Denis The Menace, was one of the most successful recent releases on Subliminal. At the end of 2012 Syke'n'Sugarstarr first cooperated with the Swedish composer and producer Rasmus Faber. The joint single “We Go Oh” was No. 2 in the English Music Week charts at the beginning of 2013 and was supported by well-known international DJs & artists such as B. Kaskade , Thomas Gold or John Dahlbäck .

In October 2013 the artists decided to stop using the name Syke'n'Sugarstarr and instead, but still together, intensively promote their solo projects SESA and Sugarstarr.
