Whitebeard Warbler ( Sylvia cantillans )

The warblers ( Sylvia ) are a genus of songbirds that belongs to the family of warblers (Sylviidae).

The name warbler comes from the Old High German of Gra-smucka = gray panties. The color of the warblers is more or less gray-brown.

Warblers live in forests and dense shrubbery and skilfully slip through low thickets . Some species like to come into gardens . Their singing is often loud and characteristic, so that you can easily recognize and distinguish them.

Systematics

The genus is one of the larger in the Sylviidae family and includes 26 species, 12 of which are found in Europe . Like the genus Phylloscopus, it consists of two very divergent sub-lines, which should actually both have the status of genera, since they are taxonomically equal.

species

These two species are sister species and together with »Pseudoalcippe« abyssinia represent the sister group of all other Sylvia species.
