Sylvia Heinlein

Sylvia Heinlein (born December 23, 1962 in Hamburg ) is a German children's book author and journalist .

Life

Sylvia Heinlein studied art history , literary studies and political science in Hamburg and Berlin . After graduating, she first worked in Tunisia and Greece . She then worked as a news editor and reporter for radio ( Norddeutscher Rundfunk , Radio Hamburg ) and as a magazine editor ( Axel Springer Verlag ).

Sylvia Heinlein has been working as a children's book author since 2000. Her work includes novels as well as picture and non-fiction books for children, including the series Die Superhelden . Moreover, it has for the series Ohrenbär the WDR written several radio plays. Her book Dragon Girl was produced as a radio play by SWR in 2007 . Nordwärts unterm Totenkopf (read by Udo Wachtveitl ) and Wednesday days (read by Ulrike C. Tscharre ) were published as audio books .

As part of the Lia Norden authors' collective (together with Cornelia Franz , Katja Reider and initially Hilke Rosenboom ) Sylvia Heinlein also writes for an adult reading audience. She also published the non-fiction book The Casanova in my bed .

Sylvia Heinlein's books were on shortlist such as “ The best 7 books for young readers ” from Deutschlandradio and Focus and “The 10 best from Bremen ” from Radio Bremen . In 2012 she was awarded the “ Kalbacher Klapperschlange ” youth literature prize. Individual titles also appeared in Denmark, Italy, Korea, Norway and the Czech Republic.

In 2012 the author received the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung award for the film adaptation of her novel “Wednesday Days”. The prize is awarded annually for the best project in a class of participants at the Academy for Children's Media.

Sylvia Heinlein lives with her family in Hamburg.
