Sylvia Oeggerli
Sylvia Oeggerli-Margreth (born February 28, 1939 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss painter and graphic artist .
education
Sylvia Oeggerli received her basic artistic training from 1952 to 1956 at the Textile and Fashion School in St. Gallen . This was followed by further training courses at the Ecole Guerre-Lavigne in Paris , France, at the School of Arts and Crafts in London , England, and a degree in Arts Décoratifs in Geneva . From 1976 to 1980 she attended the Center de Gravure in Geneva.
Working as an artist
She originally worked on textile designs for textile companies in Eastern Switzerland. Drawing and graphic skills were thus acquired. Many watercolors as well as works with pastel , acrylic and oil paints as well as mixed media followed later . She also made woodcuts for multicolored xylography as well as linocuts . In addition, Oeggerli-Margreth developed a special reverse glass painting that made her internationally known. It is not just a matter of the traditional type of reverse glass painting with selective application of paint, but often of carving out structures from a homogeneous, full-surface base layer such as a mirror. In recent years she has mainly created watercolors of flowers and landscapes that were created in her surroundings and during stays in the Engadine . Her studio is located in Chavannes-des-Bois near Geneva.
