The Synurales (occasionally also in the rank of Synurophyceae) are an order of microalgae that are close to the golden algae . So far, it consists of 4 genera.

features

The representatives are mainly flagellates , but benthic colonies are also known. The cells are covered with bilaterally symmetrical silica scales. The plastids have belt lamellas. The endoplasmic reticulum of the plastid has no membrane connection with the outer cell nucleus membrane. The DNA of the plastid has a circular genophore . Eye spots are missing.

The plastid pigments include the chlorophylls a and c 1 , fucoxanthin , violaxanthin , anthaxanthin and neoxanthin .

Swarming cells usually have two flagella pointing forward , one of which has three-part tubular hair. This hair again has short and long side hair on its shaft.

The cells have two microtubular kinetosome roots and a large, striped kinetosome root (rhizoplast).
