Max and his schoolmates have a band called "System Fehler". Their song "Wenn Inge tanzt", in which they make fun of their classmate Inge, has achieved a certain degree of fame, so that the manager Dan Biermann offers them to support Madsen on the condition that she is there alongside to sing other songs of their choice "Wenn Inge tanzt". Max and the others do not want to refuse the offer and accept, although guitarist Joscha injured both hands. Nevertheless, Max asks her if she can replace Joscha. Inge agrees - under certain conditions. The biggest one: You are no longer allowed to play "Wenn Inge dances". The guys respond, hoping that they can get Inge to play the song after all. Another condition is that the band perform at the school's charity summer party. Here Max makes fun of the music teacher Mrs. Stranger's band, whereupon she takes away the key to the rehearsal room. They break into school at night and take the instruments with them. After they have completed a photo shoot for the performance, they blindfold Inge's eyes under the pretext of subjecting her to a band ritual so that she does not see the Madsen posters with the reference to system errors and the song “When Inge is dancing”. The band drives them to the river bank: Max and Inge are left alone by the remaining band members and come closer.

Inge and Max kiss for the first time at a party that evening. Joscha practices with his battered hands and gets a few notes on the guitar again. He hears Max and the drummer Lukas praising Inge's guitar skills and then, out of jealousy, tells Inge that it was planned to play the song from the start. Inge is mad and wants to cancel the concert. Herb persuades her to accompany him to the concert. When Max declares on stage that he doesn't want to play the song anymore, Inge comes on stage and plays it with the band, which saves the concert and the band finally gets a record deal. Inge is now also a member of the band. At the end Inge and Max visit his parents, who live in Cuba.
