The Syzygy AG (proper spelling and SYZYGY ) is an internationally active German full-service agency for digital marketing . The group of companies operates as a creative, technology and media service provider for everything related to digital marketing. In terms of sales in Germany, the company ranks 11th among the largest German full-service internet agencies (as of 2018).

Syzygy AG has 11 operating companies, with Syzygy Deutschland GmbH, with locations in Bad Homburg and Frankfurt am Main, being the largest in terms of the number of employees. Other companies have branches in Berlin , Hamburg , London , New York and Warsaw . After winning the customer BMW Motorrad , another branch was opened in Munich in 2015 .

Naming

The company's name comes from astronomy and describes a straight line constellation of three celestial bodies in a gravitational system .

Group structure

From the merger of Syzygy UK Ltd., founded in Great Britain and Germany in 1995, (London) and United Media (Bad Homburg) as well as NetForce, founded in France in 1996, became Syzygy AG in 2000. At that time, the agency group comprised Syzygy Deutschland GmbH, based in Bad Homburg, and Syzygy UK in London.

In 2006 Syzygy acquired 51% of the shares in the "GFEH Gesellschaft für elektronischer Handel mbH", a company for online marketing services based in Hamburg. This stake was later expanded to 100%. The Syzygy Deutschland GmbH was expanded in 2007 to include the Hamburg location, which in 2011 merged into the newly founded "Hi-ReS! Hamburg". Also in 2007 the agency group took over the online marketing company "Unique Digital London". Since September 2009, the Group's two online marketing subsidiaries, "GFEH" and "Unique Digital", have been operating under the common brand name " uniquedigital" . Since January 2008 the design studio "Hi-ReS! London" belongs to the group. In 2012 Syzygy opened a location in Frankfurt am Main . Also in 2012 the group founded the company "Hi-ReS! Berlin", and in 2014 a new office was opened on Broadway in New York. Another company is the Warsaw agency "Ars Thanea", in which 70 percent of the shares have been held since 2014. In 2016 Syzygy took a majority stake in the customer experience design agency "USEEDS °" from Berlin.

The youngest members of the group since 2017 are the digital performance marketing service provider "Catbird Seat" and the strategy consultancy "diffferent GmbH", in each of which the company holds a majority stake.

The company has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2000 .

The share is listed in the Prime Standard of the regulated market .

Shareholder structure

The shareholder structure as of March 15, 2018: 50.07% of the shares are held by the British group WPP , which already had shares in the British original company Syzygy Ltd. as a venture capital provider before the IPO . held. 3.03% is held by German capital management company Hansa Invest and 0.55% are in proprietary possession of Syzygy. The remaining 45.72% of the shares are in free float .

Business figures and courses

In November 2002, the Handelsblatt saw the share traded on the Neuer Markt “fallen so low that the current share price is lower than the cash per share”. In March 2003 the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported a group result of 0.9 million euros and stated that "the turnaround has apparently been achieved". The magazine Der Aktionär described Syzygy 2013 as a “dividend pearl”.

In the 2017 financial year, Syzygy generated global sales of EUR 60.7 million, including around EUR 40.3 million in Germany.

According to the company, customers include AMEX, AVIS, BMW, comdirect, Commerzbank, Daimler, Mazda, o2, Techniker Krankenkasse, Wempe.

The company offers strategic consulting, project planning, conception, search engine marketing, managed hosting and online media planning.

In the New Media Ranking 2009 of the German Internet agencies, Syzygy took 4th place and was no longer listed in newer editions up to and including 2012. In the New Media Ranking 2014, Syzygy took eighth place.

Marco Seiler, CEO of the Syzygy Group, received the Horizon Award “Person of the Year” in 2014 in the “Agency” category.

Lars Lehne took over the board position from founder Marco Seiler in mid-2016.
