geography

On the Italian side the summit towers over the Valpelline , on the Swiss side the Val d'Hérens . The highest point is entirely in Italy.

On the Swiss side, the normal route begins at the Bertolhütte (Cabanne de Bertol). The glacier path over the Glacier du Mont Miné is given as 3 hours.

The normal route on the Italian side leads over the Rifugio Aosta refuge to the Col de la Division pass and then further east to the summit. Allow around 3 hours for the ascent from the refuge.

Located on the border, the summit stands near the Dent d'Hérens further east and the Tête de Valpelline further south .

The stage between Bertolhütte and Schönbielhütte as part of the Haute Route leads past the summit of the Tête Blanche. In the Patrouille des Glaciers , a ski mountaineering competition, the highest point of the tour is on the north side of the mountain just below the summit.
