The Dent d'Hérens ( 4171 m above sea level ) is a four-thousand-meter peak in the Valais Alps . The border between Italy and Switzerland runs over its summit .
description
The Dent d'Hérens adjoins the Matterhorn to the west and, in terms of popularity and visitor numbers, is completely overshadowed by its famous neighbor. The summit of the Dent d'Hérens is rarely visited.
The large Tiefmatten Glacier has its origin on the Swiss north side of the mountain, the lower part of which is called the Zmutt Glacier , the tongue of which flows eastwards . The neighbor to the east is the Wandfluehorn
The starting point for the normal route is the Rifugio Aosta (2781 m), accessible from Lake Place Moulin (1950 m).
The first ascent was made on August 12, 1863 by Florence Crauford Grove , William Edward Hall , Reginald Somerled Macdonald, Montagu Woodmass, Melchior Anderegg , Jean-Pierre Cachat and Peter Perren .
