Töpfleben is a district of the city of Gotha in Thuringia .
geography
The district is located in the east of Gotha, south of the Großer Seeberg . The local area borders in the north-west on the area of the Friedenstein barracks . State road 1045 runs southwest from Gotha to Günthersleben and Wechmar . The village borders the northeastern training area of the Bundeswehr .
history
In a document from 878 about an exchange of goods between the Church of Châlons and the Archbishop of Mainz , Töpfleben is already mentioned: in ducatu Thuringie in villa Tupheleiba seu in ceteris locis in eodem ducatu iacentibus .
August Beck mentioned the place in Volume 2 of his History of the Gothaisches Land . According to this, in 1265 the provost of St. Michaelis in Fulda sold the abbey of Breitungen all property of his church in Tuppheleibin for 24 marks. In the same article of the book that have already been at that time a church has to be mentioned: The Monastery Georgenthal leaves 1368 the pins at Gotha the patronage of Saint Stephen church dedicated by Tupfleibin .. Furthermore, it states that the place 1380 was designated as villa deserta ( desert ). In Beck's time there must have been a mill in the potty liver hallway.
Attractions
The small potty liver church, the Protestant "Luther Chapel", was built in 1954 by the long-established villagers who came from Bessarabia during and after the World War .
Others
The village of Mittelhausen, which fell into desolation in the Middle Ages and is now remembered by the Mittelhausen settlement belonging to Gotha and the Mittelhäuser Weg there , once lay just under two kilometers north-west of Töpfleben .
