The TG Veitshöchheim ( TGV or Turngemeinde Veitshöchheim 1877 eV ) is a sports club founded in Veitshöchheim in 1877 .

Departments

The association consists of departments for badminton , basketball , darts , fitness and weight training , health sports , gymnastics & step, handball , judo / sambo , karate , climbing , athletics , taekwondo , tennis , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball .

basketball

For a long time, the basketball department was limited to popular sports. During this time, NBA player Maximilian Kleber also got to know the sport at TGV.

In the 2017/2018 season, a newly formed team started under the direction of Christian Gabold, who had previously played in the Bayern League. The team initially started in the Lower Franconian regional league and in three years worked their way up to the 2nd Regionalliga Südost . When the 2019/2020 regional league season had to be ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the team was in first place in the table and was thus promoted to the 1st regional league of the southeast season and thus the fourth-highest German class.

Gabold partly relied on former professionals who live in the Würzburg region or on players from the youth program of s.Oliver Würzburg . These players include David Berberich, Gabold himself, Christoph Hackenesch , Christoph Henneberger, Ferdinand Kleber, Tobias Weigl and Nicolas Wucherer .

The teams compete in their leagues under the name "HG Maintal" (handball community Maintal). At the moment there are two men's teams, one women's team and several youth teams up to the so-called minis (6 to 8 years).
