TRS-3D

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The TRS-3D is a coherent phased array multimode detection radar for surveillance and weapon assignment, which was designed for use on boats and ships. The 3D radar works in the G-band and is intended for the detection and automatic tracking of air and sea targets, particularly low-flying small targets (seaskimmer) with a low effective reflection surface . The multimode concept includes the all-round search, automatic target recognition, tracking initialization and target tracking of air and sea targets and transfer of the data of the detected targets to the weapon systems. It is able to track up to 400 targets at a maximum distance of 200 km .

The radar device was created from assemblies of the TRML-3D and has a modular structure. It was previously manufactured by the DASA company, which was merged into the EADS group (since January 2014 Airbus Defense and Space ). When the electronics division of Airbus Defense and Space was outsourced at the end of February 2017, this division was transferred to Hensoldt .

Versions

TRS-3D / 16 on the mast top of the corvette " Ludwigshafen am Rhein "
TRS-3D / 32 on the frigate "Karlsruhe" (amidships)

The TRS-3D is delivered in two different versions, which can be distinguished by the antenna.

TRS-3D / 16

The TRS-3D / 16 has a phased array antenna , which consists of 16 lines and is offered in two versions. One variant has a mechanically stabilized platform that compensates for the ship's movements ( rolling and pitching ). In the other variant, the ship's movements are electronically compensated ( ES ), so that the mechanically stabilized platform is not required (weight advantage). An IFF antenna (Mode 5 / S) is integrated in the antenna housing, which is located behind the same radome as the primary radar antenna. The TRS-3D / 16, especially in the ES version, is intended for use on smaller ships and boats up to the size of a corvette.

TRS-3D / 32

The TRS-3D / 32 also has a phased array antenna, which here consists of 32 lines. This results in a slightly larger range and improved elevation accuracy for the weapon pre-instruction (e.g. for RIM-116 RAM ). Due to the larger antenna housing and the necessary stabilized platform for "roll and pitch" compensation, the TRS-3D / 32 is more suitable for light to medium-sized frigates. The IFF antenna (Mode 5 / S) is located above the main antenna.
