occupation

TRUST.Wohltat is a German television film by director Eicke Bettinga from 2007. The film drama contains science fiction elements and focuses on a future vision in which retirement provision takes place through financial investments in genetically perfect people.

action

The company TRUST.Wohltat sells babies without genetic defects to investors. The company takes care of their upbringing and training - the buyers benefit in the long term from the returns that these children earn on the labor market in later adulthood. The elderly couple Brecht invested in such a so-called talent called Luca. On the basis of Lucas genes, Anna-Maria and Walter Brecht would also like to have a child that is genetically composed according to their wishes. For this purpose, Lucas genes are combined and modified together with those of the surrogate mother Hannah.

Hannah works as a cleaner and has financial reasons to carry the child to term. Luca works as a doctor at TRUST.Wohltat . Only after artificial insemination and in the early stages of pregnancy does it become apparent that Luca is the carrier of a genetic defect. He is ordered for sterilization. The child is to be aborted. Mr. Friedemann looks after Brecht's customers and promises compensation in the form of a new child.

Neither Luca nor Hannah want to come to terms with this situation. He tracks them down and together they try to escape the bounty hunters from the TRUST.Wohltat company . Hannah's father throws himself out of the window, giving them the opportunity to escape. Luca and Hannah spend a night together, but shortly afterwards she is caught. Luca gets in touch with the Brecht couple, but is rejected when he suggests carrying the child to bear.

Luca is supposed to medically perform the abortion on Hannah, but only simulates it and helps her escape again. Since he does not cooperate and no longer goes about his work, the Brecht couple's return on their Luca investment is reduced. Hannah and Luca live underground and wait for their child to be born. Walter Brecht finds the two of them at their place of refuge, complains about his financial plight and gives Luca an ultimatum.

At a dinner together, Luca kills the couple to avoid the demands. Hannah gives birth to the child. However, the baby is the Brecht couple's inheritance. Hannah and Luca benefit from this and move into the Brechts property.

Scenic details

In one scene, Walter Brecht complains about an earlier bad investment when two of his talents committed suicide on their first day at work - that is, on the first day of the expected return from Brecht.
