content

In T , coping with grief after the loss of a loved one and coping with it through creativity is the theme. The audience follows three protagonists in this situation, including Dimples, an artist who has lost her son. When walking through her house, her pain is clearly palpable: She says she is trying to fill the holes in her heart. However, the film places great emphasis on how Dimples uses her creativity to cope with grief, because this creativity connects the two: At one point the mother says that her son often used her creative materials to express himself. Since he loved potato chips more than anything, she cuts fringes out of bags of chips and attaches them to the clothes she wears in the film. If she does things with her hands, she says, heal them in places deeper than the ones she is crying from.

At the end, the film shows scenes from the T-Ball in Miami, where every year people who have lost a loved one gather. They wear T-shirts and costumes that they have designed, reminding of the dead. According to the Miami New Times , the character of the gathering lies between a funeral procession, as is customary in New Orleans, and a performance on the catwalk .
