Taşova ( Turkish for stone plain ) is a district town and an İlçe (district) of the Turkish province of Amasya . The district town is home to around 35 percent of the district's population.

The district is the second largest in the province and borders in the east on the district of Erbaa (province of Tokat ), in the west on the districts of Amasya and Ladik (province of Samsun ), in the north on the district of Çarşamba (province of Samsun) and in the south on Turhal (province Tokat). Borabay Gölü is 15 km away . Administratively, the district is divided into the district town and 63 villages ( Köy ). On average, each village is inhabited by 324 people, which is the highest average of all counties in the province. Alpaslan (1,133) and Uluköy (1,063) have more than a thousand inhabitants.

history

Taşova belonged to Erbaa County (Tokat Province) from 1923 to 1944, when the republic was founded. At that time it was still called Yemişenbükü . On August 4, 1944, it was declared a district. In 1953, Taşova was separated from Tokat and incorporated into the Amasya Province.
