Suluova is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Amasya . The place is located about 20 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital Amasya and is home to about 81 percent of the district's population. The city has a stop on the railway line from Samsun to Kayseri .

Suluova is the second smallest district and is located in the northern center of the province. It borders in the southeast on the central district, in the west on Merzifon and in the north on the province of Samsun . The district crosses from northwest to east the European route 80 , which runs from Istanbul to the east via Erzurum to the Iranian border. In the west of the city the Tersakan Çayı flows through the circle, which flows further south into the Yeşilırmak . The Gümüşsuyu Deresi flows into the Tersakan from the west . A smaller tributary is dammed in the west of the district to the Yedikur Barajı . Another reservoir is the Derinöz Barajı in the east . The foothills of the Akdağ Mountains form the east of the district .

Administratively, the district of Suluova is subdivided into the district town ( Merkez ) and 40 villages ( Köy ). An average of 217 people live in each village. Eraslan has the most inhabitants (901).
