Hamamözü is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Amasya . The place is located about 70 kilometers west of the provincial capital Amasya and is connected by a country road with Laçin in the west and with Gümüşhacıköy and the E 80 in the northeast. The district town occupies about 40 percent of the district's population.

The district is the smallest in the Amasya Province in terms of area and population and is located in the west of it. In the northeast it borders on the district of Gümüşhacıköy , the remaining borders it forms with the province of Çorum . The Arkuç Çayı flows through the city and the district and flows further west into the Kızılırmak . The Yeniköy Barajı reservoir is located on the eastern border with Gümüşhacıköy , and another reservoir is located near the village of Arpadere about six kilometers north of the district town. In addition to the district town, 17 villages ( Köy ) belong to the district. They are inhabited by an average of 138 people, the lowest number in the province. Gölköy with 437 inhabitants has the highest population of the villages.
