The Taboche (also Tawoche , Tawache , Tawesche or Tawetse ) is a six-thousander in the Khumbu region of the Himalayas in Nepal not far from Pheriche and Dingboche .
He is the southernmost mountain on the running from north to south ridge of the valley of Ngozumba glacier and the Dudh Kosi -Flusses from the Valley of the Khumbugletschers separates. Its northern neighbor on this ridge is the 6440 m high Cholatse . In the south, across the Imja Khola valley , lies the Ama Dablam .
Sir Edmund Hillary , the first to climb Mount Everest , also made the first, albeit unsuccessful, attempt to climb the Taboche. The first ascent was not made until 1974 by a French expedition led by Yannick Seigneur , who also included the composer Jean-Christian Michel . The direct northeast face was conquered in February 1989 by Jeff Lowe and John Roskelley in alpine style .
