Elsa and Michele are a well-off couple in their mid-40s. Their daughter Alice has already left the beautiful apartment with a wonderful view over Genoa and runs a restaurant with a friend.
Elsa is doing her PhD in art history. Michele surprises her with a party to which he has invited all friends. The next day he has to confess to her that he lost his job for weeks. His partner and a new managing director have allied against him and kicked him out of the company that he co-founded.
Hoping to get a new job soon, Michele tries to keep up appearances and so they maintain their usual standard of living. But the financial situation is becoming more and more threatening and they have to sell their apartment and their small sailing yacht. Your new home will now be a small apartment in a newly built area on the outskirts.
Elsa has to postpone the restoration of frescoes in a palazzo (which she does on a voluntary basis) because she accepts a job in a call center and another as an evening secretary. Michele tries his hand at being a Vespa courier and is renovating apartments in his neighborhood with two of his former employees. But when the two of them get a regular job again, he has to go on alone. Michele is curling up more and more. Everything he starts goes wrong. Depression now determines his day and so there is a heated argument with Elsa. He moves in with his daughter. The relationship seems to break up, but then Elsa and Michele feel that their love for one another is stronger. The future won't be easy, but there will be one for you.
