Tales of Eternia ( Japanese テ イ ル ズ オ ブ エ タ ー ニ ア , Teiruzu obu Etānia ) is a computer role-playing game by Namco from the year 2000. The game, like Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphonia , is a game from Namco's Tales of series . A total of two versions have been released - the PlayStation version and the PlayStation Portable version, which is, however, a simple port without changes to the first version.

action

On a normal day, when the hero of the story, Reid, and his best friend Farah look up at the sky from an observation tower, something suddenly falls out of the sky. At the crash site, the two find a mysterious girl, Meredy, who obviously doesn't speak the same language as our two heroes. So they're trying to find someone who can translate what Meredy says. After a while, Reid and the others learn that a second planet is approaching their own and the two planets are threatening to collide. Now Reid, Farah, Meredy and Keele want to prevent the destruction of the world.

Characters

Reid Hershel

18 year old Reid is the main character of Tales of Eternia. He doesn't take the journey to save the world seriously and just wants to get back to a normal life as soon as possible. Most of the time he only thinks about sleeping and eating.

Farah Oersted

Although 17-year-old Farah is a young woman, she is a talented fighter. Although she usually looks very serious, she is actually nice and understanding. She has a firm belief in saving the world and always stands by Meredy. Farah has a weakness for Reid, but Reid doesn't seem to notice.

Meredy

Meredy is from Celestia and therefore speaks only one language that Reid, Farah and Keele do not understand. However, through a special earring it is possible to understand their language. But that only works if you have a certain trust in Meredy. Despite the fact that she is already 16 years old, she is very childlike and playful, but she is a powerful conjurer.

Keele Zeibel

Although Keele is only 17 years old, he is very well educated having attended a famous university. He spends most of his time exploring and learning. Keele and Reid often fight, but are still good friends. He seems to have a feeling for Meredy in the later part of the game.

reception

According to the German magazine MangasZene, there is no boredom despite the multiple use of clichés from the genre. The game offers a lot of charm, likeable characters and a fast-paced and varied storyline.

The MangasZene rates the anime as a successful side quest of the game, which does not come close to big fantasy series like Record of Lodoss War , but it can be entertaining and makes you want to play.
