Tamzin Merchant (born March 4, 1987 in Haywards Heath , England ) is a British actress and poet .

Life

Merchant originally comes from the county of Sussex in the south of England . However, she spent part of her childhood in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates . She attended Windlesham School and Brighton College . Twice she broke off planned university visits in favor of her acting career. She has been a student at Homerton College at the University of Cambridge since September 2007 . Tamzin Merchant is known to movie audiences for her supporting role as Georgiana Darcy in the Jane Austen novel adaptation Pride and Prejudice . Tamzin Merchant has also written some poems. The best known are Where Does Revenge Stop? and Ode to a Toilet , published in Platforms Magazine .

Tamzin Merchant was cast from the end of the third season of the television series The Tudors for the role of Catherine Howard , the fifth wife of King Henry VIII . In 2010 Merchant would play the role of Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO television series Game of Thrones . After the pilot episode of the first season had been filmed, however, the role was re-cast with Emilia Clarke , which is why some scenes had to be re-shot. She has been in front of the camera as Anne Hale for the Salem mystery series since 2014 .

She is involved in the social field as the patron of the charitable international development aid association Build Africa . She has been part of the Global Citizen community since 2014 . She is committed to women's rights.

Tamzin Merchant was in a relationship with fellow actor Freddie Fox for two years . The relationship ended in 2013.
