Tanja Schneider (born February 19, 1974 in Lienz / East Tyrol ) is a former Austrian ski racer . Her specialty disciplines were downhill , super-G and giant slalom .

biography

Schneider started for the ski club TSU Kartitsch (East Tyrol). Tanja Schneider first became aware of the Austrian youth championships in 1989/90 when she won the downhill. The following year she won again in the downhill, the Super-G and in the combination . She also took second place in giant slalom and fourth in slalom .

At the Junior World Championship in 1991 , she disappointed when she only reached 25th place in the Super-G. She made her debut in the World Cup on February 26, 1993 in Veysonnaz with a 29th place. This season she was allowed to start in the Super-G in Morzine and on the downhill run from Kvitfjell . In 1998 she won the European Cup in Super-G .

In her career, the second places in January 2000 on the downhill run from Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Super-G from Altenmarkt were the best placings. In addition, she achieved two third places in world cup races. The low body weight was a major disadvantage for the excellent technician.

Tanja Schneider took 16th place in the Super-G at the 2001 World Ski Championships in St. Anton am Arlberg . At the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City , she was also used in the Super-G, but could not finish the race.

After the 2003/04 season , Schneider ended her career.
