Tarsem Dhandwar Singh called Tarsem (born May 26, 1961 ) is an Indian film and video director.

Life

Tarsem Singh studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and began his film career as a director and designer of video clips. He worked with artists such as Jennifer Lopez and REM . In 1991 he received the MTV Video Music Award for the clip for REM's world hit Losing My Religion .

One of Tarsem's best-known commercials is the 2003 gladiator spot for Pepsi with Britney Spears , Pink , Beyoncé and Enrique Iglesias . In 2007 he shot the commercial with Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes-Benz, and in 2010 (also for Mercedes) a commercial with Michael Schumacher , Mika Häkkinen and Franz Beckenbauer .

He made his directorial debut as a film director in 2000 with the science fiction thriller The Cell . In 2006 he presented his second film, The Fall, at the Toronto International Film Festival . His third feature film was released in November 2011 under the title Immortals . This was followed by the comedy Mirror Mirror - The Really True Story of Snow White (2012) based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm with Julia Roberts in the role of the evil stepmother. In 2015 Selfless - The Stranger In Me was released.
