Tatiana Kononenko ( Russian Татьяна Кононенко ; born December 5, 1978 in Kramatorsk ) is a Ukrainian chess player and since 1998 the women's grandmaster (WGM). She has held the title of International Master (IM) since 2006 .

From 1995 to 1997 she represented Ukraine 5 times at the European Youth Championships for girls and won two silver medals: Verdun 1995 (under 18 years) and Tapolca 1996 (under 20 years). In 1997 at the European Youth Championship U20 women in Tallinn , Estonia , she was fourth. In 1998 she won the Ukrainian U20 youth championship in Kiev, ahead of Anna Zozulia . In 1999 she took third place (ahead of Nina Sirotkina and Rachil Ejdelson ) in the Women's Grand Master's Tournament in Saint Petersburg .

She played in the national team of Ukraine at the European Women's Team Championship in 1999 in Batumi , Ukraine, and came fourth.

In 2001 she was runner- up in Kramatorsk at the Ukraine Women's Championship, behind Anna Zatonskih and ahead of Inna Gaponenko . This qualified her for the 2001 World Women's Chess Championship in Moscow . In the first round of the World Cup, she lost to Svetlana Petrenko .

In 2002 she won the silver medal at the European Women's Championship in Blitz chess in Antalya . In 2003 she was second behind Irina Sudakowa , and in 2004 second behind Jelena Dembo at the Bykova memorial tournament in Vladimir .

In 2006 she qualified for the second time for the Women's World Cup, losing to Iweta Rajlich in the first round .

In 2007 she played several tournaments, with good results sometimes in front of and sometimes behind Vladimir Jepishin .

With her highest rating of 2442, she took 25th place in the world rankings for women in July 2005 and third place among Ukrainian players, after Kateryna Lahno and Natalja Schukowa .

In the first national chess league for women, she played for USV Volksbank Halle from 2004 to 2015 (until 2006 USV Halle), with whom she became German women's team champion in 2007 and 2010 . In the Ukrainian team championship she played in 1999 for the Grandmaster School Kiev , in 2000 and 2002 for a women's selection of the Momot Chess Club Donetsk . At the European Club Cup women she participated five times, except for their Ukrainian clubs and the UPS Volksbank Halle for the ŠK Jugovice Kac . In the team evaluation she reached third place with Kiev and 2000 with Donetsk , in the individual evaluation she achieved the best result on the second board in 1999, the third best result on the second board in 2000 and the second best result on the first board in 2002.

Kononenko was named FIDE Women 's Master (WFM) in 1995, International Women's Master (WIM) in 1997, Women's Grand Master (WGM) in 1998 and International Master (IM) in 2006 . She had achieved the required IM standards at open tournaments in Solsona (Lleida) in August 2004 , in Le Touquet-Paris-Plage in October 2004 and in Parla in September 2005, and she achieved another standard in January 2006 in Seville .
