action

Siegfried Rubeck, manager of the Sparkasse branch in Mohrstedt, sneaks up to the young Anni Tillmann, with whom he has a relationship. However, she is tired of him and sends him away. When Rubeck goes home disappointed, a man with a Swiss dialect matches him in front of his house and urges us to talk, but Rubeck does not respond. The next day the man in the branch calls him and demands ten percent of Rubeck's deposit at a Swiss bank. At lunchtime Rubeck watches Anni and lures her with material promises. He wants to go with her in the distance, but she rejects him. The Swiss man reports back to Rubeck and gives details of the money transfer. His wife suspects Anni is behind the phone call, Rubeck is surprised that his wife knows about the affair. Rubeck meets with the Swiss man, but he has no money with him. When the blackmailer presented Rubeck's account statement at the Swiss bank, he understood that he was in the hands of the blackmailer. Because Rubeck doesn't have the money with him, the blackmailer increases his demand to 30 percent.

Rubeck's father-in-law Karl Sennemann accidentally discovers the money in the cellar of the house, when Rubeck sees it that evening, it has disappeared. Rubeck gets nervous because he needs money for the blackmailer he's about to meet. He appears at the meeting point with no money when the blackmailer sets him a new deadline until the next evening, Rubeck, the archer, loses his nerve and kills the blackmailer with a bow and arrow. After this act of affect, he takes the arrow back and leaves the crime scene. Then he seeks out Anni and asks her to come with him, he wants to go far away. However, she makes it clear to him that the relationship is over. Rubeck returns to the corpse one more time to make evidence disappear. Karl meanwhile shows his daughter Helga the money and expresses his suspicion that Siegfried Rubeck has embezzled the money. He wants to go to the police with it, but Helga prevents her father from doing it. Meanwhile, Rubeck disposed of the body and burned the papers the blackmailer was carrying. Sennemann, while intoxicated, tells about the embezzlement of his son-in-law the next day. In the evening Helga confronts her husband with the money and asks him to bring it back.

When Rubeck chases after Anni again, who has meanwhile turned to another, younger man, his wife appears and asks him to come home. When she tells him about his shirt that it tried to burn and that she found traces of blood on it, he tearfully confesses to his wife that he killed the man who blackmailed him. He wanted to start a new life with a younger woman because he wanted a child. She is appalled by his confession, but promises to stand by him if he doesn't see Anni Tillmann again. Two workmen illegal garbage dump , meanwhile, discover the corpse and the police. The Rubecks learn from the newspaper that the body has been found, and they remind him again that he must stay with her so that she does not go to the police. Inspector Rullmann goes to the hotel where the unknown deceased lived. You learn that the dead name was Norbert Amann, that he comes from Zurich and that he was a representative. You can find out from bank statements and the testimony of his widow who had traveled here that Amann was employed by a Swiss bank and was informed about foreign exchange transactions for German customers. He was fired for a minor embezzlement and started playing afterwards. Apparently he blackmailed German bank customers under the guise of doing business in Germany.

An anonymous caller who overheard Karl Sennemann's talk about the money reports to the police that Rubeck is hiding a large sum of money at home. Rullmann goes through the bank statements that were found at Amann's and looks for one of the people who lives nearby. He admits that Amann was with him and blackmailed him. However, he laughed at him. Since he had legally invested the money in Switzerland, he would have had nothing to fear. Rullmann believes that Amann, however, had uncovered illegal transactions with other customers and was more successful there with his blackmail. Due to the anonymous call, the Rubecks' house is searched. Anni looks for Rubeck in the branch, but he refuses. Shortly afterwards, Rullmann seeks out Rubeck, who denies having met Ammann and having been blackmailed. Anni and Rubeck meet, Anni tells him that she is pregnant and needs money for the abortion. Rubeck, who suspects Anni to be behind the call to the police, coolly rejects her.

The next day, Helga Rubeck discovers Anni's handbag in the car, which she had left behind in his car when she met Siegfried the day before. She suspects him of still having a relationship with Anni. Helga watches Anni and gives her back her handbag. Helga reveals to Anni that she hasn't loved her husband for a long time, but she doesn't want him to be drawn into the murder story. Anni also learns through this conversation that Rubeck has embezzled money and killed a man. Helga implores Anni to stick to Siegried, Anni runs away. Helga lies to her husband by convincing him that Anni came to see her and made her understand that she knew more about the crime. He wants to talk to Anni, but Helga holds him back in order to bind him to her. Helga calls Anni again and implores her to stay with Siegried. Karl Sennemann is determined to go to the police and report his son-in-law. Anni confides in her boss, he implores her to reveal her knowledge to the police, but she hesitates. Finally she goes to the police and testifies. Rubeck then intercepts her and confronts Anni, the police chase them both in the car. Rubeck tries to flee with Anni, and the car overturns.
