Walter Flamme (born December 1926 in Dortmund ; † May 13, 2012 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German actor .

Life

Flamme attended the "Kleist School" in Frankfurt am Main. He began training as an actor at the University of Music and Theater , but was then committed to the Eastern Front as an anti-aircraft helper and then as a soldier towards the end of World War II . He was taken prisoner by the Soviets and was interned in a labor camp in Karelia . In 1949 he returned from captivity. At his father's request, Flamme initially completed a commercial apprenticeship, but at the same time continued his acting training, largely self-taught, in self-study. During this time he played with various independent theater groups in Frankfurt cellar and room theaters.

In the early 1960s he made his debut as Marquis von Posa in Schiller's Don Karlos at the theater in Bad Kreuznach . He stayed there for three years. In the mid-1960s, Flamme moved to the Landesbühne Rhein-Main , which later became the Frankfurt Theater am Turm . There he appeared in 1968 under the direction of Claus Peymann in the world premiere of the play Kaspar by Peter Handke , with which he also appeared at the Berlin Theatertreffen . In 1968 he also took part, again under the direction of Claus Peymann, in the world premiere of the play Doppelkopf by Gerlind Reinshagen ; the performance was also recorded for television and aired in 1969. In 1975 he played there in Molière's comedy Die Schule der Frauen in an arrangement in Hessian dialect by Wolfgang Deichsel . Thereupon he was engaged by the actress and director Liesel Christ at the Frankfurt Volkstheater . From 1975 to 1990 Flamme was a permanent member of the ensemble there; but continued to appear as a guest at this house afterwards. Overall, he played for over 35 years at the Frankfurt Volkstheater.

His brilliant roles there included in particular the title role in the comedy Der Rentier by Adolf Stoltze and the lathe master Dummbach in the local posse Datterich . In Datterich he was seen in the new production from 1982 alongside Liesel Christ (Mrs. Dummbach) and Georg Lehn (Datterich). Liesel Christ was his constant partner in many other performances. In 1977 he appeared as Dappler in Stoltze's comedy Alt-Frankfurt . In 1979 he played the clown Julius Schmittolini in the tightrope walker piece Katharina Knie at the Frankfurt Volkstheater . In 1979 he took on the role of Amschel Mayer Rothschild in the historical comedy The Five Frankfurter by Carl Rössler . In 1983 he played the tram conductor Fritz Wiesner in the comedy Das Fenster zum Flur by Curth Flatow and Horst Pillau ; his wife as Anni Wiesner was again Liesel Christian. In 1984 he also played with Christ in the comedy Der Weltmeister ; this performance was also recorded for television and broadcast on Hessischer Rundfunk . In 1987/1988 he appeared together with Liesel Christ and Heinz Schenk in Adolf Stoltze's comedy Rendezvous in the Palmengarten . In 1990 he played, alongside Irene Rohde and Dieter Schmiedel at the Frankfurt Volkstheater, the mustard manufacturer and serious painter Ludwig Klimke in the Schwank Die Spanische Fliege by Arnold and Bach , for the first time in Hessian dialect in an arrangement by Wolfgang Kaus .

Flamme remained artistically active even in old age. In the 2006/2007 season he took over the jersey manufacturer and lovable troublemaker Friedemann Brettschneider at the Frankfurt Volkstheater in a Hessian version of the operetta Im Weiße Rößl . In April 2007 he was, in a new production by Wolfgang Kaus, at the side of Margit Sponheimer , who took over the aunt Anna, again Uncle Willi in the Hessian version of the comedy Schweig, Bub! ; Flamme had already played this role in the earlier production (1979) of the play. In March / April 2010 he appeared as grandfather Jakob Hahn in the comedy Heilig 'Blitzje! von Karl Wittlinger again in a leading role on the stage of the Frankfurt Volkstheater. In July 2010 he spoke the voice of the Lord in the Frankfurter Jedermann in a production of the Frankfurt Volkstheater in the Archaeological Garden in front of the Frankfurt Cathedral .

Flame also played some roles in television films and series from the mid-1970s. Flamme was mainly used as a character actor and folk actor , often in concise supporting roles. In 1976 he had a small role in the television multipart The Winter That Was A Summer . In 1984 he played an episode role in the television series Bei Mudder Liesl with Liesel Christ. He had a continuous series role as Mosch in the crime series Blank-Meier-Jensen . In 2007, when he was over 80 years old, he also worked for Hessischer Rundfunk as a butler in a recording of the sketch Dinner for One in the Frankfurt Volkstheater in a Hessian version with Margit Sponheimer as Miss Sophie . In 1979 he appeared in Wiesbaden in the ARD television show One will win as a performer and actor.

In 1977 he took on a smaller role in the science fiction radio play Notlandung by Rolf Schneider , an original audio drama in a co-production of the Bavarian Radio and the Hessian Radio.

Since 2011 Flamme has lived in the Frankfurt nursing home "Julie-Roger-Haus". He died there on May 13, 2012.
