action
The criminal trio Peter May, Helmut Pauly and Dieter Stroess from Frankfurt are trying to get the million dollar amount evaded by Henry Brandl in a Zurich bank account. One of the crooks, Peter May, is accidentally shot in affect. Then the two remaining split up and Pauly goes to Zurich alone. He meets with Brandl in the hotel and offers him his knowledge of the “Zurich fruits” and blackmails him. To emphasize his demands, he explains that his wife is in his power and that his friend will guard her. Accordingly, Brandl, accompanied by Pauly, takes 400,000 SFr from his account, with which the crook disappears and goes to the airport to fly to Rio de Janeiro .
Forest workers are now finding May's body and Chief Detective Bergmann is now investigating his first case at the side of assistant Robert Wegener. After they can clarify the identity of the dead man, they quickly come across the paper manufacturer Brandl, whose company has received many calls from May recently. There are also fingerprints in the apartment that you can assign to Dieter Stroess. When he finds out that he is wanted, he goes into hiding. Since his buddy Pauly has not shown up again, he has to assume that he has run away with the prey and is now forced to raise money on his own. When trying to meet someone, they are ambushed and shot by a stranger.
Bergmann and Wegener contact an informant and find out that in addition to May and Stroess, Pauly is also part of the group. Wegner also finds out that Ms. Brandl and May knew each other, although she had denied that during her visit. After Pauly's car was found at Zurich Airport, Wegener drove there and was able to determine that the person wanted met Brandl there. When asked about this, Brandl admits that he was blackmailed by Pauly for a woman's story. After paying he would not have seen Pauly again.
Since Stroess, another member of the criminal trio, was murdered, the investigators initially suspect Gisela Brandl, the murderer of her lover, Peter May, to have shot. But Bergmann finds out that May also had a relationship with Brandl's secretary. When asked about this, she admits that May, out of affection, had obtained documents and information about the secret business of her employer. When she learned from Stroess that it was he who shot May, she got hold of a gun and killed Stroess after he wanted to meet with her to extort money.
