Today the lake is a destination for cyclists, hikers and anglers.
Landmark
Tattingstone Wonder ("Miracle of Tattingstone") is a sham architecture. It originally consists of two cottages (peasant cottages ), which are provided on one side with a facade of a church nave and a facade backdrop of a church tower, which is only designed on three sides. The now connected buildings are habitable, the tower is a dummy .
The strange building, a " Folly" , was rebuilt in 1790 at the instigation of the then lord of the manor, Edward White, because he was bothered by the (poor) farmhouses of his mansion (Tattingstone Place). The false facade gave the houses the appearance of a distant church.
