Tauerngold is a television film produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk in 2002 .
action
After the death of his wife, poor Jakob Hirzbacher moves out with his son to find happiness. Gold is said to have been found in a village in the Hohe Tauern in 1870, but when the two arrive, the gold rush is long over. Nevertheless, a group of gold prospectors camped in a valley. Jakob finds work with the impoverished Katharina, with whom he falls in love. After the death of her father, Hubertus von Feileis made Katharina an offer to sell him the mining rights for the property so that she could pay her debts. However, she refuses. Since Jakob is in the way of the influential and violent file ice, he has him chased out of the village.
Finally, Jacob's son Andris discovers access to a disused mine, in which they finally find the valuable precious metal . When Feileis learns of this, he turns the village population against the prospectors, shoots two of them and gets Jakob to lead him to the mine. When he tried to chop the gold out of the stone, the mine collapsed and spilled ice. Jakob can escape outside and starts a new life with Katharina.
