Taylor Gold (born November 17, 1993 in Steamboat Springs ) is an American snowboarder . He starts in the halfpipe discipline .

Career

Gold has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2007 . He won his first victories in February 2009 at the Revolution Tour on Mount Hood and in January 2010 at the Burton AM Series in Winter Park . At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina he finished 43rd on the halfpipe and 24th in the Big Air competition. In April 2011 he became national champion on the half pipe. At the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2011 in Valmalenco he won silver. He drove his first FIS World Cup race at the beginning of the 2011/12 season in Cardrona , which he finished in eighth place. At the 2013 Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham , he came in 20th place. In December 2014 he finished third on the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and a week later won the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and FIS World Cup races in Copper Mountain . In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he reached 14th place. In March 2014 he won the Burton US Open 2014 in Vail and finished the season in fourth place in the World Snowboard Tour halfpipe rating. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he won the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain , the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and the FIS World Cup race in Copper Mountain . In March 2015 he finished second at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and FIS World Cup races in Park City and finished the season in third place in the FIS Freestyle overall ranking and first place together with Zhang Yiwei in the FIS halfpipe ranking . He won the bronze medal at the Winter X Games 2017 in Aspen . In the 2019/20 season, he finished third in Laax and second in Mammoth , 17th in the Freestyle World Cup and seventh in the Halfpipe World Cup. He finished sixth at the Winter X Games 2020 .
