Tchort
Tchort (born May / June 1974 ; civil Terje Vik Schei ) is a Norwegian musician. He is best known as the guitarist for Green Carnation and former bassist for Emperor . He also played with Carpathian Forest , Blood Red Throne , Satyricon and Einherjer and runs the label Sublife Productions. Tchort is married and has a son and a daughter.
Tchort is a Slavic word ( Russian Чёрт , Czech and Slovak Čert , Ukrainian and Belarusian Чорт ) for ' devil '.
biography
Tchort founded the band Green Carnation in 1990. This recorded the demo Hallucinations of Despair in 1991 . It broke up in 1992 when Tchort joined Emperor. The other members formed the pagan metal band In the Woods… .
In 1993 Tchort became the bass player for Emperor and played on their debut album In the Nightside Eclipse . While serving a sentence for assault, he left the band; Except for Ihsahn , all members had been arrested, which is why the release of the album was delayed and the tour with Morbid Angel was canceled. In addition, Tchort's daughter died while in prison. Since the band assumed they would no longer exist in the future and, above all, would not perform live, the members decided that Ihsahn or Samoth could play the bass on future albums themselves. Tchort lived far away from the rest of the band and, due to the death of his daughter, decided not to make music for a while.
In 1998 Green Carnation was reunited. In 1999 the band recorded their debut album Journey to the End of the Night , and Tchort became a member of Carpathian Forest, where he stayed until 2009. On the Green Carnation album Light of Day, Day of Darkness , Tchort processed the conflicting feelings that arose from the death of his daughter and the birth of his son.
Tchort founded his own record company Sublife Productions in Kristiansand , Norway on July 1st, 2005 with his Green Carnation colleague Kjetil Nordhus . In addition to Green Carnation, Chain Collector and Harm are also under contract there. Sublife Productions also works as a booking agent for these bands and Carpathian Forest and Blood Red Throne .
