content

The song is about a young outsider who is in love with a girl (Noelle), but who seems to ignore her. So he tells how he dreams of her and invites her to an Iron Maiden concert . But Noelle ignores him and is instead with a rich and handsome boy from her school. In the third verse, however, she unexpectedly comes to him and asks him if he is going to accompany her to the Iron Maiden concert. The high lines of text from Noelle's point of view towards the end of the song are also sung by Brendan B. Brown.

“Her name is Noelle
I have a dream about her
[…]
But she doesn't know who I am
And she doesn't give a damn about me
'Cause I'm just a teenage dirtbag, baby
Yeah, I'm just a teenage dirtbag, baby ”

Music video

The music video for Teenage Dirtbag was directed by Jeff Gordon. It contains scenes from the film Loser , in which actors Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari play. In addition, some scenes with the actors were re-shot to adapt the video to the lyrics. It has around 160 million views on YouTube (as of September 2019).

At the beginning Jason Biggs rides his bike to school in the role of the outsider, which is knocked over by Mena Suvari's friend in the car shortly afterwards. Then he walks through the school courses and is knocked over by her boyfriend while he smiles at her. When Mena Suvari's friend continues to harass the outsider in the schoolyard, however, she is disappointed with his behavior and turns away from him. In between the band is shown playing the song in a gym surrounded by young people. In the third verse, the scene changes to the prom , when Jason Biggs first sits alone at a table, but shortly afterwards Mena Suvari comes to him, asks him to dance and invites him to an Iron Maiden concert . In a second version of the video, a disco ball falls on Jason Bigg's head at the end and it turns out that he only dreamed it all.
