Wheatus is a pop rock band from Long Island , New York . Her most famous song is Teenage Dirtbag from 2000.

history

Wheatus was founded in 1998 by singer and guitarist Brendan B. Brown. Together with his brother Pete Brown (drums) and Rich Leigey (bass), he recorded the album Wheatus (2000), for which he had composed most of the pieces himself.

Her biggest hit was the song Teenage Dirtbag , the theme song of the film Loser - Even Losers Have Luck , which was successful in the charts worldwide in 2000 and 2001. The following single A Little Respect (a cover of Erasure ) was already less successful. The double A-side Leroy  / Wannabe gang star remained completely without a chart placement in Germany .

Due to disagreements between her record label and the band (Brendan Brown wanted to produce the album himself), the second album, Hand over your loved ones, sold very poorly without a promotion , the single American in Amsterdam did not even reach the top 100 in the US Releases could not achieve significant success, so the band remained a one-hit wonder .

The second album was re-released in 2005 (title now: Suck Fony, Montauk Mantis label) and two new songs were recorded. However, outside of the UK, this album is only available online.

In October 2005 the band released their fourth album, Too Soon Monsoon , which was written and produced by Brendan Brown himself, paying almost all costs out of pocket. In 2006 drummer Pete Brown and backing vocalist Kathryn Froggate left the band to start their own.
