Teodoro Cardinal Valfrè di Bonzo (born August 21, 1853 in Cavour , Province of Turin , Italy , † June 25, 1922 in Rome ) was Archbishop of Vercelli and later Cardinal Curia of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Teodoro Valfrè di Bonzo studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Turin and Rome . He received his doctorate for a doctor of theology and canon law , and received on 10 June 1876, the sacrament of Holy Orders . After further studies he entered the service of the Vatican in 1880 and worked in the field of special affairs of the Church. In 1884 he was appointed special envoy for Costa Rica , but his efforts failed when serious anti-church unrest broke out.

In 1885 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Cuneo . The episcopal ordination received Teodoro Valfrè di Bonzo on May 3, 1885 Gaetano Cardinal Alimonda . In 1895 Pope Leo XIII transferred him. in the diocese of Como , Pope Pius X. transferred Teodoro Valfrè di Bonzo the direction of the Archdiocese of Vercelli . Pope Benedict XV appointed him titular Archbishop of Trapezus and Apostolic Nuncio in Austria-Hungary in 1916 . In 1919 he accepted him as a cardinal priest with the titular church Santa Maria sopra Minerva in the cardinals college. From 1920, Teodoro Valfrè di Bonzo headed the religious congregation as cardinal prefect . He was a participant in the conclave in 1922 and died in Rome on June 25 of the same year.

He was buried in his family's crypt in Brá .
