The mouth of the Tereschka in the Volga |
The Tereschka , also Great or Bolshaya Tereschka ( Russian (Большая) Терешка , alternative spelling Russian Терёшка ) is a 213 km long right tributary of the Volga in the European part of Russia .
course
The Tereschka rises in the Volga Heights in the southern Ulyanovsk Oblast . First it flows in an easterly direction in a narrow valley through the intensely agricultural landscape. At Radishchevo , it turns mainly in south-easterly directions.
Shortly thereafter, it reaches Saratov Oblast , where it swings south and southwest and briefly follows the course of the border with Ulyanovsk Oblast. In its further course the Tereschka flows largely parallel to the Volga. In this area it has numerous oxbow lakes .
The backwater of the Volgograd reservoir begins near the village of Studjonowka, and this overflows the lower reaches of the Tereschka. At Ussowka the river finally flows into the Volga.
The river, frozen from late November / early December to late March / early April, is a popular summer destination for canoeists and anglers .
