Termignon town center

Termignon (also Termignon-la-Vanoise ) is a commune Déléguée with 356 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the town of Val-Cenis in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It was part of the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and the canton of Modane .

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Bramans , Lanslebourg-Mont-Cenis , Lanslevillard , Sollières-Sardières and Termignon were merged to form Commune nouvelle Val-Cenis.

geography

Termignon is located in the French Alps, near the Col du Mont Cenis , on the former highway from Paris to Milan and on the Route des Grandes Alpes at an altitude of approx. 1300 m at the confluence of the Doron de Termignon and the Arc River . Part of the area is in the Vanoise National Park .

Attractions

  • In Termignon there is a telegraph pole for the optical telegraph line from Paris to Milan.
  • The statue of the “ weeping woman of Termignon ” is an unusual in its kind, created by the local artist Jaggi-Couvert Luc to commemorate the victims of the wars. It shows a woman dressed in regional costume crying for a close relative.
