history

The territorial prelature Esquel was on March 14, 2009 by Pope Benedict XVI. built from cession of territory by the Diocese of Comodoro Rivadavia . The territorial prelature was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bahía Blanca as a suffragan . The first bishop of the territorial prelature was José Slaby CSsR .
