Terveet Kädet ( fi .: "Healthy Hands") is a Finnish hardcore punk band that was founded in 1980 in Tornio .

history

The band was founded in January 1980 by the singer Veli-Matti "Läjä" Äijälä. Other members of the group were the guitarist Tiimo Viik, the bassist Piäsky and the drummer Peedro. Äijäläs own label IKBAL released the first two singles Rock Laahausta Vastaan and II in 1980 and 1981 , whereby the edition of the recordings was limited to 200 copies each. A little later, the group reached a contract Poko Rekords , about which the single Ääreton Joulu appeared in 1982 . In 1983 drummer Peedro left the band and was replaced by Jari "Walde" Wahlman. However, he died in 1984 when he fell from the balcony. In 1983 the EP Terveet Kädet was also released , which was released in Germany under the name Halloween via Rock-O-Rama . In the same year, the release of the debut album on Black God followed on Propaganda Records . The album was released again in Germany by Rock-O-Rama and the sound carrier was also released in Brazil . After Wahlman's death, Äijälä's younger brother Timo “Tilli” Äijälä took over the drums. In the late 1980s, guitarist Viik and bassist Piäsky were to leave the line-up. In 1985 the next album The Horse was released before the EPs Anno Domini (1989) and Oma Koloni (1988) with Aki Wille Yrjänä on electric guitar.

Around 1990 the Äijälä brothers moved to Oulu , whereupon they found the guitarist Maike Valanne von Faff-Bey and the bassist Kähkhnen aka "Kähmy". After only one EP was released, however, Lene, an old friend from Tornio, joined the line-up as the new bass player. This was followed by the release of the EP Bizarre Domination and the album Sign of the Cross in 1995, both on the Finnish label Alternative Action Records . 1997 also joined the next album Doomed Alien Race on the same label. The band then separated from the label because the group was not satisfied with the collaboration with them, and after the 1998 album Leather Enslavement was released by Klayter Records , they signed a contract with Solardisk , which resulted in the album The Ultimate Pain appeared. At the end of 1998 bassist Lene moved to the USA and was later replaced by Puksu. In early 2000 the band worked in the SM studio on their next album Non Ultra Descriptica , which was released by Solardisk that same year. Before the album was finished, bassist Lene returned to the band as the second guitarist. For the first time the five of the band played at the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in Helsinki in July 2000. Then drummer Timo “Tilli” Äijälä left the band and was replaced by Kimmo Luttinen. In August 2002, the group then recorded four demo songs. After the release of the compilation Onnellisia Kytkentöjä 1980-2000 in the same year, the band fell silent and played their last concert at the Qstock Festival in Oulu in 2006. In the following years original drummer Peedro returned to the band. Ilari joined the team as the new guitarist and Lene switched back to bass. From 2007 to 2009 she performed in Sweden , Norway , Denmark , Germany and the Czech Republic . In 2008 the group played at various Finnish festivals such as the Ilosaarirock, the Kuopiorock and the Simerock. She also played appearances with Naked Aggression in Sweden. Then the band wrote ten new songs in Tornio in March 2009 and released them as EP Ihmisen Poika, Pedon Poika in the same year. This was followed by further appearances in England and Russia . In 2011 the group played again in Sweden and Russia. Released in 2012 with UGH !!! Terveet Kädet Elävänä in Long Play Music as CD and LP and Musta Hetki CD by Long Play Music and LP at Kämäset Levyt the next two albums. In 2013 the band played at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool , the Ieperfest in Belgium and the Maryland Deathfest, among others .

style

Ollie Fröhlich from the Ox-Fanzine called The Horse a classic of the Finnish hardcore punk genre, where you could hear the influence of Discharge on the sound carrier . The songs on the album are mostly short and angry. In his review of The Ultimate Pain , Joachim Hiller stated that the band was one of the oldest still active Finnish hardcore punk bands. On the album, the group oriented itself more towards the material from their early days. On Non Ultra Descriptica , according to Hiller, the band is no longer as aggressive as before, which can also be seen from the fact that the band itself now calls their music "Hardcore Blues". You can also hear influences from groups like Motörhead or from psychedelic rock . In an Ox fanzine interview by Björn Fischer with Ilari, Fischer stated that the works had become more metallic as the band progressed . The band's lyrics were initially in Finnish, then English and finally Finnish again. Ilari justifies this with the fact that English would suit the metallic sound of the songs of the 1990s better. Later the songs were less metallic and so the group switched back to Finnish because Ilari's English wasn't very good either.
