Thaísa Hence de Menezes (born May 15, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian volleyball player . She won the gold medal at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

Career

Menezes started her career in 2001 at the Tijuca Tênis Clube. After a year she went to the Minas Tênis Clube. In 2003 and 2005 the middle blocker became U-20 world champion with the Brazilian youth. In 2005 she also made her debut in the senior national team . In the same year she moved to Rio de Janeiro VC. With the new club she won the Brazilian championship in 2006 and the double in the league and cup in 2007 and 2008. Internationally she won the Grand Prix in 2006 . In 2007 he won the South American Championship and came second at the Pan American Games and the World Cup . After another victory at the Grand Prix 2008 , Menezes took part in the Olympic tournament in Beijing and won the gold medal with Brazil. Then the middle blocker switched to the Osasco Voleibol Clube. The national team successfully defended the title at the continental championship in 2009. In 2010 Menezes won the championship with the club and reached the Grand Prix and World Cup finals with Brazil . In the next Grand Prix it was enough to finish second, but the Brazilians won the South American Championship and the Pan American Games in 2011 . A year later Osasco was successful again in the league. After losing the Grand Prix in the final , Menezes took part in the Olympic Games in London for the second time and won gold again with Brazil.
