history
The Click consists of the three siblings E-40 (Earl Stevens), D-Shot (Dannell Stevens) and Suga T (Tenina Stevens), as well as their cousin B-Legit (Brandt Jones), who all grew up in the same household.
Together they founded the group in 1986 under the name "Most Valuable Players" and took part in a talent competition at Grambling State University . Encouraged by the positive response, they decided to seriously pursue a music career and gave themselves the current name "The Click".
The first self-published product was the single The King's Men . E-40 later founded the label "Sick Wid It Records", which subsequently released some of the group's cassettes , including 1993's first official album DOWN and DIRTY . Immediately afterwards, the E-40s breakthrough as a solo artist, which led to the label receiving a distribution contract with Jive Records .
As a result of this, DOWN and DIRTY was first re-released by Jive in 1994 , before the group's second work, Game Related , appeared in 1995 . It reached the top position 21 on the Billboard 200 , also supported by the single Hurricane , which reached number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 . In 1998, the album finally got the gold record the RIAA for 500,000 sales.
After that, all group members devoted themselves to solo careers, so that the third album Money & Muscle was not released until 2001. Although it also made it into the US charts, it lagged behind the sales figures of its predecessor.
The compilation The Best of the Click followed in 2003 .
