Otto Heinzelmann

Otto Heinzelmann (born February 21, 1852 in Binz on Rügen ; † July 7, 1930 in Hanover ) was a German bookseller who also came out with his own publications .

Life

Born in 1852 as the son of a squire on the island of Rügen, Otto Heinzelmann completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller in Stralsund with Siegmund Bremer , before he worked as an employee first at Friedrich Volckmar in Leipzig , then at Moritz Rudolphi in Hamburg . He then went to Hanover, where he worked for the Carl Hahnes art dealer at Georgstrasse 17 .

Together with the bookseller Otto axis he founded the company in 1880 Sachse & Heinzelmann as a book and art shop in the corner house Georgstraße corner windmill street .

After Saxony's departure, Heinzelmann bought the building at Georgstrasse 22 at the corner of Ständehausstrasse, built by the architect and client Ferdinand Wallbrecht , and relocated his business there while retaining the company's name.

In 1894 Heinzelmann married Margarete Stoeckel , the daughter of a lawyer working in Königsberg at the time. Four years later, the only 20-year-old Robert Jockusch (the elder) from Cotta near Dresden joined the company, but refused a partnership and went to Wilhelmshaven in 1906 to start his own retail bookstore with art, music and paper goods in conjunction with a stationery store.

In the meantime, Otto Heinzelmann had found another partner in B. Betke as early as 1904, with whom he converted the company into a GmbH , which Adolf Seemeyer joined as a further partner in 1909 .

Otto Heinzelmann had already joined the Hanover Art Association in 1907 .

In 1926 Robert Jockusch the Younger joined the bookstore Sachse & Heinzelmann as an assistant. In the year the company's founder died, he married Heinzelmann's daughter Margarethe . The couple continued Sachse & Heinzelmann.
