The Electric Hellfire Club comes from Wisconsin. Their music is a mixture of electro-industrial , psychedelic keyboards and metal riffs, among others ; The band names various subgenres of industrial , electronic music , metal and classical music as influences .

Band history

The band was founded in 1991 by Reverend Thomas Thorn after he left the band My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult . The name is inspired by Sir Francis Dashwood's Hellfire Club , Thorn's addition "Electric" is intended to reflect the reference to modern technology and the electrical nature of magic and the human spirit. Like Dashwood's Hellfire Club, the band describes itself as a satanist organization and has its ideological roots in the ideology of the Church of Satan , whose founder Anton Szandor LaVey appointed Thomas Thorn as a priest; The band dedicated the album Kiss the Goat to LaVey's son .

In the song Age of Fire, Thorn sings about the debut Burn, Baby, BURN! Burning churches and synagogues, as well as expressly advocated church arson in Norway, which could be traced back to members of the black metal subculture. In addition, a church in Jacksonville, Florida was sprayed by two teenage fans of the band who quoted from the song Book of Lies , which includes appeals, after their arrest . Also in the case of the killer Caleb Fairley it became known that he was a fan of the band. Fairley locked two customers of the clothing store he worked in there on the evening of September 10, 1995, murdered them, and desecrated their bodies. The same evening he attended a concert by the Electric Hellfire Club and asked the band's keyboardist at the time, Shane Lassen, if he could help him "build a more personal relationship with Satan ," which he failed to do with books like the Necronomicon and LaVey's Satanic Bible be.

In 1997 the soundtrack of the film Gummo with the Electric Hellfire Club title DWSOB and the sampler Souvenirs from Hell with the also exclusive title Paradise Reclaimed were released .

In the course of its existence the band has released five regular and three mini-albums and has appeared with Danzig , Gwar , Type O Negative , Fear Factory , Coal Chamber , Godflesh and Powerman 5000 , among others .

In 2009, the band announced Charles Edward of Seraphim Shock as their new guitarist, and Eric Peterson (aka John Hatch / Rex Sterling / Janna Flail), the original drummer, returned to the band.
