The Gathering is a US-American - British Mystery - Thriller by Brian Gilbert from the year 2002 .

On the way to Ashby Wake, young Cassie is hit by a car and suffers from amnesia . The driver, Marion Kirkman, invites Cassie to her home. Instead of recovering there, however, she gradually gets caught up in an eerie happening. She meets Marion's husband Simon, who is investigating a newly discovered early Christian church from the first century. There is a figurative representation of the crucifixion of Christ , at which numerous onlookers can be seen. Over the next few days, Cassie experiences visions that affect the future of people around her. She watches the strange car mechanic Frederick Michael Argyle.

Versions

There are two different versions of the film. In Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States , among others , only a version shortened by around 13 minutes was released on DVD. The shortened version has a playing time of exactly 83:31 (PAL DVD). The uncut version was shown on TV by ZDF and BBC and can be found on the French, Polish and Japanese DVD versions, for example; it has a playing time of approx. 97 minutes ( PAL ) or 101 minutes ( NTSC ).
