The opera singer Malvina van Stille is supposed to get married the following day. She celebrates at a reception and is welcomed by Dr. Emmanuel Droz killed. He brings the corpse to an island in his castle and invites the piano tuner Felisberto Fernandez to tune in seven of the scientist's devices. Dr. Droz wants to use the devices to preserve the singer's voice forever. Fernandez meets the housekeeper of the scientist Assumpta, whom he finds attractive.

Reviews

Kristine McKenna compared the film in the Los Angeles Times on December 1, 2006 with Eraserhead by David Lynch and with the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm . He is "hypnotizing" and shows the obsession of the "diabolical" Dr. Droz.

The film service wrote that the film was an "aesthetically appealing, genre, media and generic science fiction fantasy, the visual gimmicks of which are not free from mannerisms". However, it would be "sometimes overwhelmed by too many metaphors and quotations". The “subtle use of cultural references” compensated for the exhausted artistry” in part.

The directors received two special awards at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2005 and were nominated for the Golden Leopard . In addition, the film was nominated for the Chlotrudis Award in 2007 for best visual design .

The fantasy drama grossed around 28,000 US dollars in selected US cinemas .
