The Slow Club was a band project by the Austrian musicians Hansi Lang , Thomas Rabitsch and Wolfgang Schlögl . Guitarist Andy Bartosh also appeared as a live member . The music of the Slow Club was characterized by the fusion of vocal jazz and electronic music .

Band history

With Hansi Lang, who as a singer of the Hallucination Company and as a solo artist (I play life, Monte Video, Josefine, Don't worry!) Has been one of the most famous singers from Austria for many years, Thomas Rabitsch, founding member of the Hallucination Company and as a musician and producer Involved in numerous bands (including Drahdiwaberl , Falco , Harri Stojka ), and Wolfgang “I-Wolf” Schlögl ( Sofa Surfers ), three accomplished and long-known musicians came together in the Slow Club .

The Slow Club's first productions, Welcome to the Slow Club (2004) and This Is the Slow Club (2005), consisted of cover versions and reinterpretations of pieces from the Great American Songbook ( Hoagy Carmichaels Stardust , George Gershwins Embraceable You , Billy Pauls Me and Mrs. Jones et al.). In 2006 the musicians were awarded the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for the best jazz / folk / blues album.

The work on the second album, which consists entirely of original compositions by Lang, Rabitsch and Schlögl, took two years. The songs were developed improvising in jam sessions . In addition to Andy Bartosh , numerous guest musicians were involved in the recordings , including Vera Böhnisch , Birgit Denk , Tini Kainrath , Netnakisum , Christian Radovan , Woody Schabata , Harri Stojka and others. v. a. Hansi Lang suffered a stroke while working in the recording studio, from the consequences of which he died on August 24, 2008. The album House of Sleep was released on November 7th.

Slow Club Revisited ( WUK , 2011)

In autumn 2011, Schlögl and Rabitsch presented a continuation of the musical idea of ​​the Slow Club with “Slow Club Revisited” at a live concert that was initially unique. The vocal part was performed by the Viennese singer Violetta Parisini .
