The Suicide Kings are a street punk band from southern Hesse .

Band history

The Suicide Kings were founded in early 2005 by Rüdiger, Sascha and Tober under the name "Blacklight Avenue". From the beginning it was the aim of the band to write only their own songs and pretty soon a first demo was recorded. With the demo recordings, the band started looking for a label, and the first record deal was signed with KB-Records . Before that, however, the band name was changed because they didn't want to be confused with the Finnish band Sunrise Avenue . The band chose The Suicide Kings. The band name goes back to the American thriller " Suicide Kings " by Peter O'Fallon in 1997. In May 2008, the first album Devil May Care was released on KB Records, on which Pascal from the band KrawallBrüder also played the song All My Memories can be heard as a guest singer. After the release, performances all over Germany followed.

After a small tour across Germany and Austria at the end of 2008, the band began songwriting for a new album and more and more festival shows and club concerts were played, among other things as support for bands like Third Choice , Troopers , Loikaemie , Gob Squad , The Accidents and discipline . In September / October 2009 the second album was recorded and released under the name Rule the Apocalypse . After the release, guitarist Sascha left the band, from then on the band continued with only one guitarist.

In April 2011 the third album was released with Menticide . Now, for the first time, the larger media became aware, and the reviews clearly spoke for the band. Magazines like Rock Hard gave 7.5 out of 10 points with a "thumbs up" rating. The highlights this year included festivals such as the Traffic Jam or Steinbrücker Teich Open Air.

At the end of 2012, drummer Markus left the band for personal and professional reasons and the original drummer Chris has been a permanent part of the line-up ever since. The band ended their collaboration with KB-Records and signed a contract with the IMM-Records label in February 2013, on which their fourth studio album Generation Suicide was released on December 13, 2013 , with Thrash Metal veteran Gerre von Tankard as a guest singer on the title track on board.

style

The band combines elements from the genres of street punk and metal as well as influences from hardcore punk in their music . The music contains melodic passages and singalongs as well as heavier passages based on Thrash Metal . Böhse Onkelz , Motörhead , Discipline , KrawallBrüder and Cock Sparrer were named as comparisons .
